The Ongoing Narrative Of War  by Patrick Eibel and Kenton Kilgore

In the last two campaigns (the original King of the Hill, and Part Deux), Kenton and I have taken a tour through our armies while we played a series of games to test out some of the new codices.  While these games were lots of fun, they did nothing to move forward the back stories we have created for each of our armies.

For this campaign, I wanted to build on what I learned from the previous campaigns.  We will continue to play a variety of our armies, but we will also set up battles so that they provide a context for creating new stories about our armies.

Here is the slate for the next round of battles:

Battle One: Mad Mork: Fury Road

Armies: Ork Kult of Speed vs. Dark Eldar

Mission: “The Spoils of War” (from the main rulebook)
Story: Orks and Dark Eldar fight over loot—'nuff said!

Battle Two: Fallout

Armies: Space Wolves vs. Khorne Daemonkin
Mission: “Averting Disaster” (from Curse of the Wulfen)
Story: The Space Wolves have a war council to discuss the alleged turning of former Fighting Tiger Shamshir Telatra. Ragnar Blackmane is dispatched to determine the depths of betrayal.

Battle Three: Last Alliance of Eldar and Men
Armies: Planetary Defense Force (Allied Eldar and IG) vs. Kurindans (proxied Tyranids).
Special Restrictions: The Defense Force may not take vehicles other than walkers, but do get up to three Fortifications for free. The Kurindan player MUST bring a Lord of War Heirophant Bio-Titan!

Mission: “Infestation” (from the Battle Missions book)
Story: Watch the Battle of Helm's Deep portion of Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. You get the idea.

Battle Four: Old World vs. New World

Armies: Necrons vs. Tau Empire
Special Restrictions: The Necron player is not required, but is encouraged, to bring the Flying Circus of Unbeatable Hooey.

Mission: “Planetfall” (from The Red Waaaaugh!)
Story: Errr…the Necrons invade a Tau-held planet? It kinda writes itself.

We had planned to do four battles, but Real Life got very busy, and 8th Edition's imminent arrival made running the fourth game under the 7e rules superflous.  Nevertheless, sit back, and let us tell you some stories....

The world is coming to an end: Kenton is actually painting, for the first time in years
