King of the Hill

King of the Hill: Introduction by Patrick Eibel

Games Workshop has new codices coming out faster than farts at a chili cook-off, so players may be having trouble comparing all of the new armies.  Fear not, we at the Jungle are here to help.

To put things into perspective, we are going to play a round-robin campaign (each army plays each other army) amongst the armies we have with 6th Edition codices.  Between the two of us, Kenton and I can field Chaos Space Marines, Eldar, Space Marines, and Tyranids.  Yes, it would be nice if one of us had a Tau army to throw into the mix for the sake of completeness, but we donít (I used to, but I sold them off awhile back).  Each battle will be 2,000 points and use basic missions from the rulebook.  The army lists, however, can change from battle to battle.  Here is the slate of battles for the campaign:

  1. Chaos Space Marines (Pat) vs. Space Marines (Kenton)
  2. Space Marines (Kenton) vs. Tyranids (Pat)
  3. Tyranids (Kenton) vs. Eldar (Pat)
  4. Eldar (Pat) vs. Chaos Space Marines (Kenton)
  5. Chaos Space Marines (Pat) vs. Tyranids (Kenton)
  6. Space Marines (Kenton) vs. Eldar (Pat)

Just because we can, we will play the first game at a neutral site (Dropzone Games in Glen Burnie, MD), and the winner will host Game #2 at his house.  Who ever wins Game #2 will host it at his house, and so on, for some "home field advantage" and hopefully some changes of scenery.  We will try to play once a month so that we have time to make adjustments between games and besides, we're both pretty busy in real life.

Each army plays three battles and we will compare records and performance at the end.  If there is a tie in overall army record, we can keep a tally of victory points throughout the campaign and compare final tallies. This leaves Orks and IG out in the cold (the next two books), but we could do something with them in 2015.
