Fall From Grace III: Introduction
The first Fall From Grace was an informal gathering of 40K gamers from around the United States, held at the Borderlands store in Greenville, South Carolina, in the year 2000. The genesis of FFG was the desire of Lee Loftis (webmaster of the Millenium Gate) and other 40K players to create a gaming convention without the hype, noise, and stress of Games Day. FFG caught on, spawning a spin-off (Spring Offensive) and becoming an annual tradition.

FFG III was held August 29--September 1, 2002. Like its predecessors, FFG III had no fees, registration, or standing in lines. These are small, friendly get-togethers where people can come together and play. Though there have been special events in the past, FFG III consisted of unscheduled pick-up games. Very relaxed, very casual.

The beauty of events like these is how relatively easy they are to do:

  • First, find a store with plenty of tables and space that is willing to host a bunch of gamers for a weekend. Independent stores are probably your best bet. Smart owners will want to host these events, as they generate extra sales and create repeat customers.
  • Second, decide on a date for the event.
  • Third, spread the word via the Internet.
One final suggestion: if you intend to organize a similar event, do NOT let it evolve into or include any tournaments. Tournaments tend to bring out the ruthless competitor in people and are hardly conducive to a stress-free weekend of friendly gaming and socializing.

In the pages that follow, you'll find army lists and battle summaries for my Fighting Tigers Space Marines and my Ozone Scorpions Dark Eldar. Hopefully, you will find these useful, informative, and/or entertaining. Plus there are lots of photos from all four days.
